Monday’s Child is a children's boutique in historic Old Town, Alexandria with beautiful clothes for precious children, sizes newborn to 14. A shopping destination for classic children's clothing for 42 years, we offer a great selection of baby gifts, baptism gowns, special occasion and play clothes, the area's largest selection of First Communion apparel, shoes, books, toys, monogramming and much more. We are located in the historic Crilley warehouse at 218 N Lee Street.
Our store name came from the old nursery rhyme poem:
Monday's Child is fair of face
Tuesday's Child is full of grace
Wednesday's Child is full of woe
Thursday's Child has far to go
Friday's Child is loving and giving
Saturday's Child works hard for a living
and the child that is born on the Sabbath Day is happy and wise and good in every way

Meet Maura, Owner of Monday's Child
I have adored Monday's Child since I was a little girl and my mom was shopping at the store for me. Since having three boys, I turned to this Old Town gem for the cutest smocked outfits and little saddle shoes. When the store was looking for a new owner in 2018, I jumped at the chance to be a part of this sweet shop and it has been a dream come true for me!
As a boy mom, I have so much fun packing our girls' section with darling dresses, the cutest little bubbles and big pink bows, but I also pride myself on making sure that we are stocked with a great selection of adorable clothes for boys - which I know from experience can be difficult to find. We carry classic, timeless pieces for special occasions as well as everyday outfits...and we want to help you monogram them!
My husband - also a native Alexandrian - and I love living in Old Town, just a few blocks from the store and we love being a part of this incredible community. When I'm not at Monday's Child, you can probably find me chasing after the boys at the park or walking our beloved golden retriever, Rumpelstilzkin.
And yes, we do still carry the pink sailor dress that I wore in the 1980s.
